Persuasive Essay On School Uniforms - 717 Words

The idea of school uniforms has been a vital point within school districts for a long time now. As a parent with two kids within the school system, it is a popular trend amongst schools as both my children’s schools require for their student to wear uniform. However, more recently, students as well as parents are beginning to disagree with the enforcement with school uniforms as they believe uniforms are possibly taking away the right of self-expression for students. Although this is a valid complaint, uniforms are intended to be looked upon as a positive effect as they limited the amount of teasing amongst students, discrimination due to amount of income, and keeps the school looking united. Therefore, I believe school uniforms are not a†¦show more content†¦For example, some students may walk around with pants sagging and underwear showing, and some kids will even be wearing inappropriate logos on shirts or jackets, which gives the school a bad look and reputation. However, where school uniform is enforced, students who do not have to focus on what they are going to wear to school will be able to focus more on academics. This ultimately will lead leads to improved grades schoolwide and the school will look better presentation wise and academically wise. Lastly, while many parents believe uniforms limit what the students must choose to wear to school every day, it does not take away anything from their learning time as that is the core reason of students being in school in the first place. Without the desire to show of what trendy clothing they have or how much money their clothes cost, eliminating the option of no uniform school puts students’ full attention on their classwork. Also, school uniforms still allow for student to have their own ways of self-expression. Students can still express their desired style of choice by the way her or she styles their hair, wear their accessories, and their specific shoe choice.
